Kids out on the main street in Vorkuta, Lenin Street (the street sign on the building says Lenina, where the a at the end is like the 's in English). We were out for a walk around town in the early evening, and the streets were busy with people walking and driving home. Vorkuta (Воркута) has about 85,000 people and an economy based on coal mining. Despite being at the same latitude as Naryan Mar, it was colder when we were in Vorkuta in early April, about -10°C (14°F) on this evening, and down to about -18°C (0°F) while we were there. The colder weather has benefits though since Arctic towns look much nicer before the melt season, when there is fresh snow around.
