The agency that was handling our logistics in Russia is based in the Arctic and Antarctic Museum in Saint Petersburg, and one day we took a tour of the museum, which is housed in a building that was originally a church. These flags, under the church's dome, are those of the twelve countries that originally signed the Antarctic Treaty in 1960.
