This was our transportaion in Khatanga. It's called a bronto, and is a heavily modified version of a common Russian car, the Lada Niva. According to the Russian Wikipedia site (here), it has a 1.7-liter, 79-horsepower engine and a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph). It had several extra fuel tanks which our driver filled before we left with 78-octane gas. We were also told it floats if it breaks through the ice, and with those tires I'm inclined to believe it, though glad not to have tested it.
