From 23-26 May we had our first big storm of the winter. Storms here are mostly high winds causing lots of blowing snow, which reduces the visibility and causes drifts. We had about three days of 25-35kt (30-40mph) winds. These pictures show the resulting drift at the Dome entrance.

The entrance from above, on the 25 foot wall of snow beside the door.

Looking at the doors from the ramp leading down to them. The drift is lower on the right because that is where the pedestrian door is, so people shovel it over there. The doors, which are about half covered on the left, are plenty big enough to let large cats drive into the dome.

The inside of the doors. Snow can blow in around the edges of the doors. We had to move all that snow farther into the dome so the doors could open to let a cat in to remove the snow.

The pile of snow after we shoveled the inside drifts. Every Saturday afternoon we all take part in a station clean-up. This week about seven of us spent 45 minutes shoveling to get all that snow moved.
