Antarctica is the best place in the world for viewing optical phenomena associated with the Sun and Moon. These phenomena, rainbow colored arcs and halos in various parts of the sky are caused by light being bent as it passes through ice crystals. At South Pole there are often ice crystals floating in the air (diamond dust), which create the perfect environment for viewing these phenomena. They're difficult to photograph, but I'll try, and will put up the good ones here.
