The Oodnadatta Track is actually now a well maintained, unpaved highway, though at times it seemed a little hard to tell where the road ended since the desert was stony and barren. It was easy to do 100 km/h (60 mph) on many stretches of the track, but you would have to pay attention so you could quickly slow down for the somewhat frequent rough patches and dry creek crossings.
