Once back to the highway I continued on through Ceduna and to the last real town, Penong. From there I detoured south to Cactus Beach, before continuing west. I made another detour from the highway to Fowlers Bay, and then continued west towards the Nullarbor Roadhouse and Nullarbor Plain. I spent the second night at a treeless campground south of the Nullarbor Roadhouse. The next morning, seeing that I was ahead of schedule, I first went back east to travel a part of the old highway, followed a small track back down to the highway, and then continued west again, following another part of the old highway west from Nullarbor for a bit. After returning to the highway, I headed west towards the Bunda Cliffs, east of the Western Australia - South Australia border.
