The Liard Highway heads north from the Alaska Highway to the Northwest Territories. This highway sees very little traffic, as is clear in this picture, taken just before 11:00 PM. The few cars I saw along this road all had Northwest Territories license plates; shaped like a polar bear, they are the only plates in North America that are not rectangular.
