The five orange and white tents are where most of the people sleep in summer. The wooden box is one of the toilets. There were some toilets inside the main building with running water, but the sewage system couldn't handle solid waste, so some things had to be done in these, which emptied into barrels. They were heated with 2 kilowatt electric heaters, so they were actually pretty comfortable, but it could mean a chilly walk in the middle of the night. There were places just outside each tent that were designated for late-night peeing, so that could be done quickly. The few women on station stayed in the main building, near one of the indoor toilets.
