Mount Erebus with steam rising from it. This was taken from Willie Field, the skiway on the ice shelf. This is much closer to McMurdo than the other ice-shelf runway, Pegasus, but only ski-equipped planes can land here; wheeled planes must land at Pegasus when the sea-ice runway isn't open.
