Mikhail and Tom outside of the building where we rented an apartment for three nights in Naryan Mar.  We paid the equivalent of about US$20 per night for the small apartment with one room and a kitchen and bathroom.  Melt season was just beginning when we were in Naryan Mar, and it was around freezing most of our time there.  Some streets, like this one, were still completely snow-covered, but most of the busier ones were melting, with patches of hard-packed snow mixed in with huge puddles/ponds.  Naryan Mar (Нарьян-Мар) is a town of 19,000 people about 110 km (68 miles) north of the Arctic Circle on the Pechora River.<BR><BR>
