The sun setting grid north of Sparcle. Notice the bright area does not extend down to the horizon. This darker band on the horizon is because of the inversion layer, the first few hundred meters above the surface where the air is rapidly warming as you go up. This layer bends the light differently so that it appears darker. Friday 23 March 2001, around 11:00pm local time.
