One afternoon with nice weather Paul and I went out for a walk before
dinner. We walked out past the front of the ship to enjoy the weather
and get a good view of the ship. The first photo shows Paul sitting
on top of a ridge. |

A close up of some of the ice blocks in the ridge, where you can see
blue light coming from between the blocks. The ice lets more blue
light pass through the blocks than other colors, resulting in the blue
color here; when looking at reflected light from the snow, the extra
blue light is too little to notice since the snow is so bright, so you
have to look at light transmitted through ice to see that ice is
blue. |
