In the first part of the trip I drove east, first mostly along the
coast to Alta, then across a plateau in Finnmark, Norway's
northernmost county, to the east coast of the peninsula that leads up
to Nordkapp. The first photo wasn't taken very far from Tromsų (in a
straight line), but it's a couple hours away by road because of
driving around the water.

A bit farther along, just west of Alta.

Some shots on the plateau east of Alta. It's not actually very high,
a few hundred meters, about 1000 feet, but the tree line is very low,
so it's high enough to be mostly without trees, but no shortage of
snow.
